WE BEAUTIFY
GCP maintains a year-round horticultural program that is responsible for the cultivation, maintenance, and replacement of hundreds of trees, planters and hanging baskets. Horticulturists working with our Capital Projects division meticulously tend to our seasonal floral plantings, nurturing them as if they were in their own backyard.

GCP’s beautification strategy comprises a number of other ongoing initiatives, maintenance activities and special projects, including:
  • In addition to the periodic replacement of the flags displayed on UN Way, the Capital Projects team also installed 50 American flags in front of Grand Central Terminal, the entrance to the Pershing Square viaduct, and in front of the state offices at 633 Third Avenue.

  • GCP designed and installed dozens of distinctive red granite tree pits on sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. The clean, modern look of the tree pits inspires frequent compliments.

  • Because GCP owns and maintains its own streetlight poles in the Grand Central neighborhood, it has entered into an unique and innovative licensing deal with Clear Channel Outdoor, Inc. that provides this worldwide leader in outdoor advertising with the exclusive rights to display banners that promote New York City, the Grand Central community, and periodic special events and messages on some 200 streetlight poles in Midtown Manhattan.

  • Every December, GCP adorns the neighborhood with festive holiday decorations, helping New Yorkers maintain a cheerful sprit amid the busy shopping season.
